Q. From what vegetable source(s) do you derive the vegetarian capsule?
A. The capsules used are non-gelatin, vegetarian (plant-based) capsules made from tapioca, which is naturally fermented into pullulan. Pullulan is a vegetable-derived, water-soluble substance produced through a natural fermentation process.
The capsules used in our other products are also vegetarian - derived from the same source. However, the difference with the vegetarian capsules used in CFSF is that they are certified organic. As the two (2) main ingredients in CFSF are certified organic, it was only a matter of using vegetarian capsules that are also certified organic, for the product to be certified organic eligible. In order for a product to be certified organic, all ingredients including the vegetarian capsules, also have to be certified organic. The capsules used in CFSF are the only certified organic vegetarian capsules in the industry.

Q. How long has this product been on the market?
A. Our product is relatively new. We started selling CFS May 2014.
Q. Can children take CFS?
A. No, CFS is for adult use only.
Q. I previously purchased the 800mg formula. The new CFS has 700mg… Why?
A. Our new formula which is comprised of 100% organic ingredients, including a new, more bioavailable curcumin extract, has resulted in a density change in the powders, thereby, not making it possible to fit more than 700 mg. in a capsule. Although each capsule is 100 mg. less, the resultant product is 500% more bioavailable and more potent, which more than compensates for the 100 mg. difference in fill weight.
Q. What is bioavailability?
A. Bioavailability refers to the degree in which a nutrient, such as curcumin, is absorbed into the body. The higher the bioavailability, the more the curcumin is able to take an active effect. Please see clinical study in QWBI founder in CS Drive.
Q. What is the proprietary blend that makes your product 500% more bioavailable?
A. The enhancer contained in Curcumin Full Spectrum Formula is a trademarked, patent-pending delivery technology that consists of organic lecithin and organic turmeric oil. Therefore, our product is, indeed, lecithinized. The lecithin used is sunflower lecithin. It is this enhancer that increases bioavailability by 500%.
Q. Other companies add black pepper to their blend. Why don’t you add black pepper to your product?
A. Although black pepper has been shown to increase the bioavailability of turmeric, we chose not to use it or include it in our product because of some controversy surrounding it. For example, Black pepper can irritate your gastrointestinal tract. Ingestion of black pepper may cause dyspepsia (upset stomach) and other gastrointestinal adverse effects. Also, The extract of black pepper, called piperine, can have some negative effects. It has been shown to adversely interact with a great many prescription medications, including anti-seizure, blood pressure, heart, and cancer drugs. It also can increase the absorption of toxins from the food you eat by its effects on the liver.
Q. Why do you have to consume CFS on an empty stomach?
A. Curcumin may cause stomach upsets if taken on empty stomachs.
Q. What does the chart on the website/page 5 of slimjim means?
A. The numbers on the left are the levels of concentration in the blood. There is an approximate 5 fold or 500% increase in the bioavailability the first hour. At 5 hours, the concentration is still nearly doubled, and finally plateaus at 6 hours. This is not uncommon for ingredients to peak in the blood stream, and eventually plateau.
Q. Do you test CFS for chemicals ?
A. Raw Materials and Finished Products Specifications and Testing are conducted by our manufacturers. Testing includes Microbial [TPC (Total Plate Count), Yeast and Mold, E Coli, Salmonella, coliforms] and Heavy metal testing.
Raw Materials and Finished Products Specifications and Testing: Includes following sourcing qualifications and testing of raw materials and finished products.
1. Raw Materials Sourcing: All vendors are qualified by testing one lot of the raw materials for: (l) identification, (ll) Physical characteristics including: Color, Odor, Particle Size, and PH (lll) Analytical Testing of one or two Markers for active components (lV) Microbial Tests including: TPC, Yeast & Mold, Coli form, E Coli, and Salmonella (V) Heavy Metals including: AS, Cd, Pb, and Hg to verify the supplier's certificate of analysis.
2. Incoming Inspection of Raw material: Each lot is tested for (l) identification,
(ll) Physical characteristics as in item 2.ll above (lll) Microbial Test on a skip lot basis
(lV) Heavy Metals testing on a Skip lot basis. The supplier's Certificate of Analysis is relied upon to ensure the potency and purity of the raw material.
3. Finished Products Testing: Each lot of finished dietary supplements undergo physical tests as defined in specifications, as well as microbial tests, heavy metals testing, and analytical tests of 1 or 2 markers for active components.
The manufacturing, testing, packaging and final review for release, are all overseen, examined and approved by a QA/QC team of Pharmacists, Ph.D.'s, Microbiologists and Chemists.
Strict compliance with comprehensive cGMP's is mandatory. By constantly monitoring and enforcing strict adherence of SOP's, QA & QC insures 100% compliance and safety of products at all times. Our manufacturers are certified for full compliance with the US Food and Drug Administration 21 CFR, Part 111 regulations, and cGMP certified by NPA (Natural Products Association) and NSF (NSF International), the leading certifying organizations in the industry. cGMP refers to the Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations enforced by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). cGMPs provide for systems that assure proper design, monitoring, and control of manufacturing processes and facilities.
Q. Are your bottles/jars PET/PETE?
A. QWBI use only amber Polyethylene terephthalate (PET/PETE) bottles/jars, even though they cost more. These bottles/jars are recyclable and shatter-proof. They protect from harmful light and UV rays. The amber color provides protection for light-sensitive products. They provide superior protection against oxygen permeation, and provide maximum shelf exposure.
Q. Can customers review the studies conducted on the CFS’s bioavailability?
A. Yes, on a requested basis only (see CURCUMIN BIOAVAILABILTIY STUDY-TECHNICAL DATA IN QWBI FORLDER).
Q. According to the customer, there are several types of curcumin. What kind is used to make CFS?
A. We used Curcuma Longa.
Q. How long does the CFS stay in the bloodstream?
A. Approximately 7 hours, with the greatest spike occurring at 3 hours.
Q. What is the ORAC level for CFS?
A. We do not have any of our products tested for ORAC values. For easy reference, please see below info:
The antioxidant values of foods are expressed in ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) units, a unit of measurement for antioxidants developed by the National Institute on Aging in the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
In 2012, the USDA’s Nutrient Data Laboratory (NDL) removed the USDA ORAC Database for Selected Foods from the NDL website. The USDA cites two main reasons for the removal of the ORAC Database:
a. The values indicating antioxidant capacity have no relevance to the effects of specific bioactive compounds, including polyphenols on human health. There is no evidence that the beneficial effects of polyphenol-rich foods can be attributed to the antioxidant properties of these foods. - Note: Several health researchers have disagreed with these statements.
b. ORAC values are routinely misused by food and dietary supplement manufacturing companies to promote their products, and by consumers to guide their food and dietary supplement choices. - This is a valid statement.
Due to the controversy surrounding ORAC values, it was deemed unnecessary to go through the expense of having our products tested for ORAC values, especially in light of its misuse and misrepresentation by companies eager to make their products appear superior to others. ORAC values are being manipulated, and used as marketing hype. Moreover, there is no industry standard of measurement, and test results are unreliable and inconsistent.
